美国加州南湾华人协会协办纪念孙中山先生诞辰160周年活动 South Bay Chinese American Association Co-organizes Event Commemorating the 160th Anniversary of Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Birth

(Reported from the South Bay, Los Angeles) On the evening of August 22, a grand ceremony commemorating the 160th anniversary of the birth of Dr. Sun Yat-sen was held at the Hilton San Gabriel. Representatives from the Southern California overseas Chinese community, civic leaders, and guests from various sectors gathered to honor Dr. Sun’s historical achievements and to uphold the noble spirit of "The World is for All" (Tianxia Weigong). The event was co-hosted by the Los Angeles Zhongshan Association and the Flying Tigers Research Institute, with the South Bay Chinese American Association of California serving as a co-organizer.

The event’s organizing team included Zheng Jindi, Chen Canpei, Lin Hanzhang, and Liang Yuxia, with Liang Yuxia and Chen Jianrong serving as emcees. Zheng Jindi, President of the Los Angeles Zhongshan Association, delivered the welcome address. Wang Qi, Director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office at the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Los Angeles, and Consul Xiong Yitong attended the event, while Lin Hanzhang delivered the closing remarks. Through segments such as a video of Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Mandarin speech, the reading of congratulatory letters, and speeches by guests, the attendees collectively reflected on Dr. Sun’s historical contributions and spiritual legacy.

Attendees from the South Bay Chinese American Association of California included Chairman Ma Shengxing, President Louis Chu, Executive President Wang Wei, Vice President Catherine Li, Board Member May Chen, and Advisor Du Yuanyuan; Honorary Presidents Lin Xu and Lin Lianlian, along with Advisor Zhang Qiying, were also present to show their support.

The South Bay Chinese American Association of California contributed a waist-drum troupe, a qipao team, and a dance troupe to the event. The qipao team handled guest reception duties, welcoming attendees with dignified elegance and warm, attentive service. The waist-drum troupe kicked off the cultural performances with a spirited rendition of "Soaring Drums" (Gu Wu Fei Yang). The dance troupe performed the classical dance "Sentiments of the Hometown" (Guxiang Qing), while the qipao team presented "Every Step" (Mei Yibu). Each of the three performances was unique, and the show as a whole was spectacular, earning unanimous praise and enthusiastic applause from the organizers, guests, and the audience.

Chairman Ma Shengxing remarked that Dr. Sun Yat-sen dedicated his life to the pursuit of national prosperity, the rejuvenation of the nation, and the happiness of the people. The ideal of "The World is for All" that he championed is not only a noble vision that transcends eras but also a spiritual force characterized by a global outlook, a sense of responsibility, and a commitment to serving society. Association President Louis Chu remarked that although more than a century has passed, the exemplary character of Dr. Sun Yat-sen endures; his spirit remains as vital as ever, continuing to inspire us to forge ahead with determination. Wang Wei, Executive President of the association and President of the US-China Cultural Association, stated in her address that the association is eager to join hands with colleagues from all sectors to uphold the aspirations of our forebears and harness the power of unity and dedication. Through steadfast action, the association aims to contribute to the harmonious development of the Chinese community, foster understanding and friendship among diverse ethnic groups, promote people-to-people amity between China and the U.S., and advance world peace.

The South Bay Chinese Association of California extends special thanks to Vice President Catherine for her leadership, as well as to Team Captains Jiao Yang (Qipao Team), Huang Sui (Waist Drum Team), and Susan (Dance Team) for their diligent organization and coordination. Heartfelt gratitude and warm congratulations go to all the performers in the Waist Drum, Qipao, and Dance teams, as well as to the volunteers who handled photography, videography, on-site coordination, and logistics. Through their concrete actions, they have embodied the spirit of public service and dedication, demonstrating the association’s and its members' commitment to serving the community and contributing to society.

Commemorating our forebears is about carrying on their legacy; reflecting on history is about putting those ideals into practice. The South Bay Chinese American Association of California will continue to work hand-in-hand with all sectors of society to build a more harmonious and wonderful world. （洛杉矶南湾讯）8月22日晚，纪念孙中山先生诞辰160周年大会在圣盖博希尔顿酒店隆重举行。南加州侨界代表、社团领袖及各界嘉宾齐聚一堂，共同缅怀孙中山先生的历史功绩，弘扬“天下为公”的崇高精神。本次活动由洛城中山联谊会、飞虎队研究院等共同主办，美国加州南湾华人协会等协办。

大会总策划郑锦棣、陈灿培、林汉章、梁玉霞，主持人梁玉霞、陈建荣。洛城中山联谊会会长郑锦棣致欢迎词，中国驻洛杉矶总领馆领侨处主任王琦、熊艺彤领事出席当天活动，林汉章致感谢词。大会还通过孙中山先生国语演讲视频、贺函宣读及嘉宾致辞等环节，共同追思孙中山先生的历史贡献与精神遗产。

美国加州南湾华人协会主席马胜兴、会长Louis Chu、执行会长王薇、副会长Catherine Li、理事May Chen、顾问杜园园等出席；协会荣誉主席林旭、林连连及顾问张齐英也到场支持。

美国加州南湾华人协会派出腰鼓队、旗袍队和舞蹈队参与活动。旗袍队承担迎宾任务，以端庄优雅的仪态、热情周到的服务迎接各界嘉宾；腰鼓队以气势昂扬的《鼓舞飞扬》拉开文艺演出序幕；舞蹈队带来古典舞《故乡情》，旗袍队献演《每一步》。三个节目各具特色、整场演出精彩纷呈，赢得主办方、嘉宾和现场观众的一致好评和热烈鼓掌。

马胜兴主席表示，孙中山先生毕生追求国家富强、民族振兴、人民幸福。他所倡导的“天下为公”，不仅是跨越时代的崇高理想，更是一种胸怀天下、担当责任、服务社会的精神力量。会长Louis Chu表示，百余年岁月流转，孙中山先生风范长存，其精神历久弥新，至今依然激励着我们砥砺前行。协会执行会长 美中文化协会会长王薇在嘉宾致辞中表示，我们愿与各界同仁一道，承先贤之志，聚团结奉献之力，躬身践行、笃行致远，为华人社区和谐发展、不同族裔的理解与友谊、中美民间友好与世界和平尽一份力量。
